The majestic peaks of the Smoky Mountains create a breathtaking backdrop for this fully furnished luxury mountain home the owners call 'Eagle's Nest'. A lighted helicopter pad, for quick and easy access, in addition to a place for nesting your own 'eagle', has become one of the most requested luxury features with developers. This luxury mountain estate also offers one of a kind furnishings in addition to 4 bedrooms, 5 1/2 bathrooms, 4 fireplaces, a soaring-ceiling great room, covered and open outdoor entertainment areas, sauna, & exercise room. Additional acreage available! The best of mountain living where exact construction and use of local resources, selected to live in harmony with the surroundings, helped create an exceptional house and property that make you feel as though you are part of the incredible mountainous scenery. There are views from every room in addition to extraordinary outdoor living areas that feature breathtaking views of the Southern Appalachian Highlands. If location is the number one rule in real estate, this jaw-dropping site ranks near the top of the list! Less than a mile away is the Foothills Parkway which is the scenic auto route to Eagle's Nest. The Parkway is a 33 mile stretch of commercial free scenic roadway (right up there with the Linn Cove Viaduct and the Cherohala Skyway) from Chilhowee Lake to Wears Valley with many scenic pull-offs and Eagle's Nest is part of this grandeur! Additional acreage is available. Located high on Chilhowee mountain like a grandstand from which to enjoy the ever-changing clouds and qualities of light that bathe the Smokies. You may see every sunrise, enjoy blue sky days, starry nights, observe weather systems from miles away, and yet you are less than hour away from the small friendly small towns of Maryville and Alcoa that feature shopping, fine eateries, a four year college with the Clayton Arts Center (where you can see a play or hear musical concerts by famous entertainers) and the Knoxville McGhee Tyson Airport providing major airline service to wherever your business or vacation plans require. The quaint village of Townsend, on this "Peaceful Side of the Smokies", Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Knoxville are just a short drive away. Bicyclists and equestrians are delighted by the paved and riding trails nearby in Townsend and Cades Cove. Motorcyclists may never leave as there are rides in every direction including the Foothills Parkway, the world famous Tail of the Dragon or Cherohala Skyway. Hikers can take full advantage of being next door to one of the top hiking destinations in the east; the Smoky Mountain National Park with more than 800 miles of hiking trails. Residents from around the globe have chosen this area as a bit of Heaven on earth to live. This 5,546 square foot home was designed by Allen Halcomb of MossCreek Knoxville to be true to its Southern roots which is so evident from the moment you first see Eagle's Nest, whether approaching by helicopter or arriving by car, with its southern exposure and outside living areas, the Crab Orchard stone and cypress wood exteriors in addition to tin metal roof areas prepared using a patina process giving it an appearance that is aesthetically appealing for this mountain home, you know this special place has been given a lot of thought and study. Upon entering the front door you are greeted with cabin grade variegated hickory wood flooring, a Formal Dining Area, the Kitchen with island, and the Cathedral Room with its windows soaring to the ceiling beautifully framing the Smokies. Most of the furniture is "one-off" and manufactured specifically for this house. The Dining Room features a custom cherry table with bench seating plus a king and queen chair. This room is accented by 110 year old imported Prussian Black Forest antique pieces. Wainscoting is cherry wood and lighting fixtures are copper and silver for a vintage industrial look. The Kitchen features Orion granite for the island and other counter tops giving a copper and stainless look. This complements the copper farmers sink, prep sink, door/drawer pulls, lighting fixtures and stainless appliance finishes. The commercial Viking 4-burner with griddle gas range and convection oven will satisfy the most discerning chef. The two-story wall of windows in the Cathedral Room are framed with 60 year old black walnut wood harvested in Blount County. The Pratt Brothers of Blount County built the Crab Orchard stacked stone 37' tall 4-flue chimney and the ceramic fire box insert is a Hearthstone Conestoga. Both the massive coffee table and smaller coffee table were custom made from a black walnut stump purchased locally at Everhart Lumber. The 8x8" tall timbers surrounding this room and cross timbers are made from western cedar. For a feeling of depth, compared to the cathedral room timbers, 6x6" western cedar timbers were used to build the maple tread stair case. Rebar balusters adds to a vintage industrial look. Overhead are circulatory fans, manufactured in Pennsylvania from original Amish designs. They appear to run by a steam engine in the elevator shaft, however it is a DC motor. The "Legends Staircase Wall" feature an Elk, Eastern Woodland Bison, and an empty spot reserved for the Eastern Mountain Lion. Indirect lighting is installed at the ceiling on 6" tongue & groove wood boards. As the sun sets, lighting in the Cathedral Room begins to trickle down the crab orchard stone and black walnut walls framing the windows like melting caramel! Each of Eagle's Nests bedroom suites is named after a national park. The Master Suite is "Park Headquarters", then there is "Yosemite", "Yellowstone" and "Smoky Mountains". The bed(s) in each room sport the official throw blanket of the national park that room is named after. Also, each bed in the house has a flannel sheet and a Pendleton wool blanket combination just like those used at the LeConte Lo
